Can a tuck shop use iPOS without Infinity ERP?
Yes. iPOS serves small-shop requirements as well as larger retail operations. A tuck shop should discuss a focused point-of-sale configuration rather than assume that every iPOS proposal is an enterprise ERP project. Infinity ERP is a separate business-management offering. A single sales counter does not automatically need warehouse, chain-management or full ERP modules.
Start with the work performed every day: find or scan a product, charge the correct price, issue a receipt, update stock, process an authorized return and review the day’s sales. Ask the demonstration team to use your actual snacks, drinks and other sample products.
Offline, online or hybrid: which configuration fits?
Offline POS is worth evaluating when counter operations must work locally during an internet interruption. Hybrid POS is worth evaluating when local checkout and connected management are both required. Ask exactly what continues offline, what synchronizes, when it synchronizes and how exceptions are handled. These behaviours depend on the quoted configuration.
iPOS Web POS is the browser-based option and requires internet for its online operation. Do not assume that browser access, owner mobile reporting or cloud storage means every checkout function works without connectivity. Test the proposed product by disconnecting internet during the demonstration. A power cut is a separate problem: local checkout still requires powered equipment and an appropriate backup.
What should a small-shop demonstration include?
- Scan frequently sold products and search an item without a barcode.
- Sell the required quantities, correct a mistaken line and print a receipt.
- Show who may change prices, discount, cancel or authorize a return.
- Receive a supplier delivery and check the effect on stock.
- Close a shift and reconcile the recorded sales with the actual cash.
- Disconnect internet, repeat the agreed offline workflow, reconnect and check the result.
- Demonstrate a backup and explain recovery if the counter computer fails.
Time a realistic basket on the equipment you intend to use. Checkout performance depends on the product catalogue, hardware, network, peripherals and configuration. A measured demonstration is more useful than an unsupported claim that any vendor is universally fastest.
Can I use my existing PC, printer or barcode scanner?
Bring the device model, operating system and peripheral details to iPOS before buying replacements. Desktop, browser-based and hybrid configurations can have different requirements. Request the supported specification and compatibility confirmation in writing. Do not infer that a desktop edition runs on Android, or that an existing printer is compatible with a browser-based setup.
Include a suitable barcode scanner, receipt printer and power backup where needed. Confirm their purchase cost, consumables, installation and support separately from the software. A cloud connection does not keep an unpowered counter running.
Is one-time POS licensing available?
Selected iPOS POS editions offer one-time software licensing. This does not mean every iPOS product, ERP project, mobile app, integration or ongoing service is included in one payment. Request a quote showing the software licence, implementation, equipment and any optional or recurring services separately.
Compare like-for-like ownership costs over your intended period. Multiply a monthly subscription by the number of months, then add setup, equipment, support and other quoted charges. For a one-time licence, include the licence and the same relevant additional costs. iPOS pricing is scoped to the proposed setup; this guide does not publish an unconfirmed starting price.
How do I decide whether iPOS fits my shop?
Ask for a demonstration of the small-shop configuration rather than an ERP presentation. Have the person who will operate the counter complete a sale, a correction and shift closing after training. Confirm the support channel, response arrangements, data ownership, backup responsibility and upgrade terms.
iPOS has served the market since 1995: 31+ years of experience as of 2026, according to the company. Experience is useful context, while a suitable configuration, a clear quotation and a successful demonstration are the practical buying evidence.
