How to choose the best POS provider in Pakistan

A practical buyer’s guide to comparing POS providers in Pakistan: daily workflows, inventory, reporting, implementation and long-term support.

Start with your business, not a ranking

The best POS provider is the one that fits your actual operation. A supermarket with several tills needs a different demonstration from a single retail shop, a warehouse or a fuel station. Start by writing down your branches, counters, stock locations, payment methods and reporting responsibilities. Decide which problems are essential to solve now and which can wait. A generic “number one” claim cannot tell you whether a system handles your returns, credit customers or head-office controls.

Ask every provider to demonstrate the same workflow

Give each shortlisted provider the same short scenario: scan an item, apply an authorized discount, accept the required payment combination, reprint the bill and process a return. Then follow the effect on stock, customer history and reporting. Use your own sample products and a realistic transaction rather than only watching prepared slides. Record what works in the demonstrated configuration and what requires an additional module, integration or customization.

Compare the whole operating environment

Billing is only one part of the decision. Review purchasing, supplier balances, branch prices, stock valuation, financial reports and user permissions. Ask who controls product changes and how the same information reaches different locations. For bank payments or forecourt equipment, confirm the exact supported setup in writing. Also discuss backups, restoration responsibility, support channels, training and the treatment of existing data. These questions help distinguish a suitable system from an attractive interface.

Where iPOS Infinity belongs in your shortlist

iPOS Web POS is the point-of-sale product; iPOS Infinity is the ERP system. Evaluate Web POS for browser-based checkout and Infinity ERP for connected inventory, purchasing, accounting, multi-store oversight and management reporting. Confirm how the proposed products work together in your implementation. Fuel-station workflows include PTS-2 and ATG integration for compatible configurations. iPOS has served businesses since 1995, bringing 31+ years of experience and 15,000+ active clients, as reported by iPOS. These are company-level figures, not an independent market ranking. A long operating history is relevant context, but the right next step is still a demonstration of your own requirements. Use the product tour to inspect the interface, then contact the iPOS team through this site’s contact page for a scoped discussion.

Compare POS providers on evidence

Use the same questions for every provider, including iPOS. The best point-of-sale provider for your business should demonstrate the workflows that matter to you and document the agreed scope.

Make the decision evidence-based

Create a comparison sheet with required workflows, demonstrated results, configuration assumptions, implementation work and ongoing responsibilities. Separate mandatory requirements from preferences. Ask for a written scope and clarification of recurring costs instead of assuming that every feature shown is included in every package. A careful shortlist is more useful than a list of unsupported competitor rankings.

Your practical checklist

  • Use the same sample transaction with every shortlisted provider.
  • Record the modules, branches, users and hardware included in the proposed scope.
  • Ask how existing products, stock and balances will be checked before go-live.
  • Confirm training, support, backups and update responsibilities.

Common questions

Is iPOS Infinity the best POS for every business?

No single system is the best fit for every operation. Compare Infinity against your actual workflows, required integrations and implementation needs.

How do I request a relevant demonstration?

Use the iPOS company enquiry page and describe your industry, branches, counters, existing software and the workflows you need to see.

Product scope is based on the supplied Infinity specification. Confirm modules, hardware compatibility and implementation responsibilities for your own setup. This guide does not make a competitor ranking or promise a business result.

MATCH THE SYSTEM TO THE BUSINESS

Which POS is suitable for your business?

A useful recommendation starts with your busiest working day. Bring representative products, returns, supplier records and staff responsibilities to the demonstration. Ask the provider to show the required workflow in the product and configuration being quoted.

Industry requirements to include in your POS demonstration
Your businessWhat to testWhat to clarify before buying
Garments and footwearSize and colour variants, barcode labels, exchanges, seasonal stock and branch transfers.Whether each variant has a separate stock balance, how exchanges affect accounts, and which locations may change prices.
Grocery and supermarketsFast scanning, weighed items where required, pack sizes, purchasing, stock counts and checkout permissions.Compatibility with the exact scales, scanners, printers and number of concurrent counters in your proposal.
Restaurants and cafésTable or takeaway orders, modifiers, kitchen handoff, split payments, cancellations and shift closing.Which ordering, kitchen and owner/customer app functions are included, and what connectivity they need.
Petrol pumpsShift reconciliation, customer credit, fuel and non-fuel sales, stock records and management reports.Exact dispenser, controller and tank-gauge compatibility where automation is proposed; installation and reconciliation responsibilities.
Multi-branch retailLocation-level stock, transfers, shared products, branch access, purchasing and consolidated reporting.Ownership of master data, synchronization behaviour, exceptions and branch-level permissions.
Online and physical storesOrder ownership, availability, fulfilment, cancellations and returns across the intended channels. The agreed connection between the ecommerce store, customer app, POS and ERP; do not assume every module is included.

How do you compare speed, security and reliability?

“Fastest” needs a repeatable test. Use the same product catalogue, counter hardware, network and transaction sequence with each provider. Time scanning, product search, payment completion, receipt printing and a return. Repeat the sequence with the expected number of active tills. Record the demonstrated conditions instead of comparing unrelated marketing figures.

For reliability, agree an interruption and recovery test suited to the proposed deployment. iPOS Web POS requires internet. A hybrid arrangement can put selected operations close to the counter and connect management functions elsewhere, but the exact design determines which tasks remain available during an outage. Ask which work stops, what staff should do and how records are reconciled afterwards.

For security, demonstrate separate staff accounts, restricted discounts and returns, branch access, sensitive report permissions and the available activity history. Confirm backup ownership, recovery steps, update responsibilities and the process for removing a former employee’s access. Require evidence of the controls your business actually needs.

What should you ask about FBR and regulatory integrations?

Request written confirmation of the specific invoicing and authority-integration workflow proposed for your business, its implementation responsibilities and any additional charges. Demonstrate the invoice reference, response handling, correction process and reconciliation used in that configuration. A logo or a generic “tax-ready” claim is not evidence that a particular business has completed its required integration.

Consult your tax adviser about applicability. The FBR digital-invoicing FAQs describe the licensed-integrator route for notified registered persons. Confirm the current requirements and the responsible integrator before go-live; this buying guide does not establish a provider’s licensing or regulatory approval.

Why does long-term support matter?

Software becomes part of the way staff sell, count stock and explain financial records. A relationship that continues through changes in people, branches and processes can be valuable. iPOS reports client relationships lasting more than 25 years. Ask for relevant references that may be shared with permission and discuss how the support arrangement would work for your own operation.

Include staff training, escalation contacts, support availability, migration checks and recovery responsibilities in the written proposal. Compare the cost over the same period, including licences or subscriptions, setup, hardware, extra modules, integrations, hosting, training and recurring support. Ask how you can export your records if your requirements change.

How should you interpret ratings and recommendations?

Check the source, date, number and relevance of reviews. Look for descriptions of real implementations and how the provider resolved problems. Company experience, a customer reference and an independent review are different types of evidence; none replaces a demonstration of your mandatory requirements. This guide is published by iPOS to explain a buying method, rather than present an independently measured market ranking.

Discuss your business requirements

A weighted POS comparison scorecard

This is a buyer worksheet, not a rating of iPOS or its competitors. Adjust the suggested weights before demonstrations. Score each requirement from 0 to 5: 0 means not demonstrated, 3 means partially meets your requirement and 5 means demonstrated and included in the written scope. Calculate each weighted result as weight × score ÷ 5, then add the results for a total out of 100.

Suggested evaluation weights: total 100
RequirementWeightEvidence to record
Checkout and returns25Complete a sale, mixed payment and authorized return; verify the resulting bill and stock.
Stock and purchasing20Receive a supplier purchase, count stock and investigate a discrepancy.
Accounts and reporting15Trace a sale and return to the required management reports.
Hardware and deployment15Run your actual devices and an agreed connection-interruption scenario.
Implementation and support15Agree migration checks, training, recovery ownership and support availability.
Commercial scope10Compare the complete written quote, ongoing charges, exclusions and exit terms.

Example: a checkout score of 4 with a weight of 25 contributes 20 points. Record the demonstration date, product version, included modules and unresolved questions beside each score. A high total must not override a failed mandatory requirement. Treat a promised future feature separately from something demonstrated today.
