Wholesale POS: Customer Pricing, Credit and Pack Quantities
Wholesale POS requirements often centre on customer-specific terms, credit, purchasing and pack quantities. iPOS configuration should connect those commercial rules to an understandable stock and financial record, with exceptions demonstrated before rollout.

Define prices and units together
A wholesale customer may buy cartons, mixed packs or a negotiated quantity. Record how the sellable unit relates to stock and how the applicable price is selected. Decide who can override a price and what the customer should see on the invoice. A lower unit price is not meaningful unless everyone agrees what that unit represents and whether the proposed transaction is permitted.
Treat credit as a controlled responsibility
Identify the customer account, the agreed terms, the staff who can approve credit and the process for collecting outstanding balances. Demonstrate a credit sale followed by a partial receipt and an adjustment. The owner should be able to follow how each event affects the customer's record. Reporting an outstanding amount is not the same as assigning responsibility for its collection.
Include supplier and return exceptions
A wholesaler may receive short deliveries, return goods or accept a customer return from an earlier period. Use those scenarios in the demonstration, with clear units and references. Discuss local checkout requirements separately from remote management access. Accounting, purchasing and connected services can be scoped around the required processes without assuming that every wholesale counter needs the same ERP implementation.
A practical scenario
A distributor sells mixed cases to a regular shop on agreed credit terms. The operator confirms the unit, applies the authorized customer price and records a later partial payment. A returned case is then reconciled against its original record rather than treated as an unrelated cash adjustment.
Demonstration and acceptance checklist
| Action to demonstrate | Evidence to inspect |
|---|---|
| Sell a negotiated pack quantity | The unit and price are unambiguous |
| Record a credit sale | The intended customer account is affected |
| Enter a partial receipt | The remaining balance is understandable |
| Return an earlier delivery | Stock and financial references can be followed |
Questions buyers ask
Should every cashier be able to change customer prices?
Permissions should follow the business's approval policy. Demonstrate normal pricing and the authorized exception separately.
Can wholesale operations use offline billing?
Discuss the desktop offline or hybrid scope and which local records must remain available when external internet is disconnected.
