PAKISTAN POS BUYING GUIDES

Cloud or desktop POS: which setup fits your business?

Choose a POS deployment by testing how checkout, printing, stock updates and branch reporting behave in your operating conditions. “Cloud,” “desktop” and “hybrid” are starting labels; they do not prove offline capability, backup quality or hardware compatibility.

Map the parts that depend on a connection

Write down where checkout runs, where the business database lives, how remote managers connect and which services need internet access. A browser interface alone does not explain the complete architecture. Ask the provider to draw the proposed setup for your counters and head office. Identify who manages each computer, server, network connection and external service.

Test an interruption rather than assuming offline support

During an agreed demonstration, disconnect the internet and check whether new sales, item searches, payment recording and receipt printing still work. If offline operation is offered, ask where transactions are stored, what limits apply and how they synchronize afterwards. Also test what managers see while a branch is disconnected. Do not infer offline operation from a general product label.

Compare responsibilities as well as access

For each deployment option, document who installs updates, monitors backups, restores data and secures user access. Ask how a failed counter is replaced and whether a branch can resume work while a server is repaired. Include the cost of maintenance, connectivity and replacement equipment when comparing proposals. Remote access is useful only when it comes with clear permission and recovery arrangements.

Apply the questions to iPOS

iPOS Web POS is described here as browser checkout requiring an internet connection. Infinity is presented as a connected operations platform; confirm its exact hosting and branch architecture for your proposal. Request a demonstration using your intended scanners and printers. Record supported behaviour, dependencies and recovery steps in the scope before choosing a deployment.

Useful next steps

Inspect the actual product screenshots and Infinity capabilities, then request a demonstration from iPOS using your own requirements.
